IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND DATES
THIS DOCUMENT IS IMPORTANT AND MUST BE READ THROUGHLY AS IT CONTAINS INFORMATION REGARDING PERFORMANCES, REHEARSALS, TIMINGS AND VENUE BUT ALSO TO THE CARE AND SUPERVISION OF YOUR CHILD/CHILDREN.
All students attending our independent Boom Arts classes (Kenley Memorial Hall, Tatsfield Village Hall, Sanderstead Methodist Church and Shirley Harris Benson) together with selected afterschool clubs at St. Johns CofE, will be invited to perform in 'A Night at the Boomusicals' on Saturday 1st June 2024.
Show dance terms are always very exciting as it gives the students a break from syllabus and exam work, with a chance to learn more dance sequences to a high standard. We are sure the children will find the experience of performing on stage with costumes, props, lighting and an audience - exhilarating!
It is IMPERATIVE that students attend all classes and rehearsals in order to endorse our health and safety procedures and maintain a consistent quality of performance. Please also be aware of the impact any students that wish to discontinue a routine will have on the rest of the performance as this will inevitably mean routines will need to be changed or students could be left without a partner.
Please note that there will be no classes on the day of the show, these will be made up on daytime rehearsals within the theatre.
PLEASE BE AWARE WHEN YOU SIGN UP THAT YOU ARE FULLY COMMITTED TO ATTEND ALL CLASSES AND REHEARSALS – WHICH ARE MANDATORY.
Show times:
The show will run on Saturday, 1ST JUNE 2024
Performance 6pm (roughly 2/2.5hrs)
All Tots and Lower Junior classes, Junior and Upper Junior/Senior classes.
Technical rehearsal also on 1st June - please see below for designated time slots for your child.

For instruction and show purposes, children will be split into colour teams for ease:
TOTS = RED TEAM ~ LOWER JUNIORS = BLUE TEAM
JUNIORS = GREEN TEAM ~ UPPER JUNIORS = ORANGE TEAM

COSTUMES ARE TO BE LEFT AT THE THEATRE AFTER SHOW Children must get changed before leaving the theatre. Show 6pm: All TOTS will be collected by their parent/guardian at a designated location in the foyer/changing room OF THEATRE during the interval after the first half of the show. Toddlers can then join their parents in the theatre to watch the second half of the performance while seated on their parents' laps. |

DROP OFF & PICK UP | Parents will need to escort their children to the theatre entrance where the children will be signed in. Children will then be taken to their designated chaperone, who will escort them to their allocated groups and changing rooms. ONLY BOOM ARTS LICENSED CHAPERONES WILL BE ALLOWED BACKSTAGE AND IN DRESSING ROOMS AT ANY TIME. |
INTERVAL | Tots only to be collected - they can sit on a parent's or guardian's lap for the second half of the show. Lower Juniors to remain backstage under supervision. Parents, guardians, friends or family will not be allowed contact with Lower Junior, Junior, Upper Junior or After School Club students during the interval, in accordance with safeguarding policies. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Chaperones will supervise children at all times, including break times. |
PARKING | Please make sure you leave sufficient time to park down nearby side roads and escort your child to the theatre on time. |
SHOW PHOTOGRAPHS | Show photographs will be taken during the dress rehearsal by a professional photographer and can be purchased on Show Day or ordered online. Details to follow. Costs start from £7.00. |
SHOW DVDs | The performance on Show Day will be recorded by the “Film Your Show“ Production Team. DVDs will be available to purchase for £20 - order now using our online form. These can be pre-ordered from March 2024. |
COSTUME HIRE | There is a costume hire fee of £15 per dance (with a cap of 3 classes - if student does more than 3, no extra charge). Costumes are a huge part of the showcase and we do our upmost to ensure they are affordable, so in most cases, Boom Arts subsidise the cost of these costumes. Children need to be fitted prior to the show and costumes cannot be ordered until payment is received. DEADLINE 1ST FEBRUARY 2024. |
FOOTWEAR | Street dance/other classes: Black trainers Disco freestyle: Jazz shoes Ballet: Ballet shoes Please ensure all shoes are labelled with child’s name. |
TIGHTS / SOCKS / UNDERWEAR | Details of what children need to wear will arrive with their costume. Where possible flesh coloured underwear, ballet tights (ballet), flesh coloured tights (disco) and black socks are recommended for all students. Please ensure items are labelled with child’s name. |
OWN CLOTHING | It would be helpful if children wore loose fitting, basic clothing for ease of getting changed. Please ensure own clothing labelled with child’s name. We cannot be responsible for any lost clothing so please ensure they are put in a clear box. |
HAIR | Girls: hair tied back in a neat low bun with hair grips and hairspray. Boys: hair slicked back and off face. |
MAKE UP | Children should supply their own makeup and hair brush/comb. These are for their sole use. Please ensure items are labelled with child’s name and in a clear bag. |
JEWELLERY | Children are not to wear any jewellery, especially earrings, on the day of the show please, for health and safety as it is very dangerous when changing fast out of costumes. They will be asked to remove any items, if worn on the day (it will then be their responsibility to keep these safe). |
LABELLING | As well as ensuring your child’s suit carrier and accessories box is labelled, please ensure their personal belongings, clothing and footwear are also clearly labelled in order to avoid any losses. |
CHAPERONES | All licensed chaperones will be provided by Boom Arts Academy. They will be fully vetted, insured and trained in safeguarding. In most cases our chaperones will be known by the children. We are very grateful for any volunteer chaperone/parents to help on the show day and rehearsals. |
ADVERTISING / MESSAGES | In order to raise funds for the show for props, lighting and costumes, there is an opportunity for local businesses to advertise in our show programme, for a small fee. There is also opportunity for parents, guardians, friends and family to leave a special message for the children performing in our programme. This is totally optional and the fee is £5. For business promotions, prices start from £15 depending on size of advert. All costs go towards the Show. Use our online form to contact us with your requirements. PROGRAMMES | Programmes can be purchased on the Show Day for £4. |
MERCHANDISE | An optional keepsake 'A Night at the Boomusicals 2024' memory show t-shirt will be available to purchase from March 2024 - the design commemorates the performance. These cost £20 and can be worn in class or on the show day, when not in costume. |
ALLERGIES & MEDICATION | If your child has any medication, EPI pens or inhalers, please put these in a secure, clear container marked with child’s full name and instructions. Please also ensure you inform your child’s designated chaperone that your child has medication and email enquiriesboom@hotmail.com.
WE HAVE STUDENTS WHO HAVE SEVERE ALLERGIES SO PLEASE ENSURE NO NUTS OR YOGHURT IS SENT WITH YOUR CHILD. Thank you for your cooperation. |
SHOW TICKETS | Tickets will be available to purchase from March 2024 via Eventbrite - Links will be sent to parents on the release date. Tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis, so please ensure you allow plenty of time to book your tickets. There is no limit to the number of tickets that can be purchased so please encourage friends and family to attend and support your child. All ticket Prices £22.00 (including booking fee). Tickets are non-refundable. Tots students can sit on a parent's or guardian's lap for the second half of the show. During the interval they will be required to be picked up at the changing room doors. |
BEHAVIOUR | Both students and staff work very hard to make the show special, rewarding and pleasurable for our audience and the performers. We recognise the importance of positive and effective behaviour management strategies in promoting children’s welfare, learning and enjoyment. In the event of unacceptable behaviour during rehearsals, a child may be excluded at the discretion of the teacher if they are jeopardising the safety or enjoyment of others. We should all be treated with respect and consideration and will not tolerate rude, offensive or aggressive remarks and behaviour. We welcome your support in ensuring your child is aware of the health & safety rules of the venue and complies with the rules. Parents, we conduct rehearsals with the aim of adhering to our time expectations. However, there may be instances where the rehearsals extend, and we appreciate your utmost support in such situations. |
MOBILE PHONES | ​We request that children do not bring their mobiles phones except for Upper Juniors/Seniors. Boom Arts will not be held responsible for any loss or breakages of personal belongings. If mobile phones are required, they must be turned off during the show and only used to liaise for collection at the end of the performance. |
POCKET MONEY | We request that children do not bring any money with them as there will be no opportunity to purchase goods until after the show. |
SHOW UPDATES | We will endeavour to keep you regularly updated either via our Website, email or SMS so please check these regularly, especially during the run up to the show. |
WHEELCHAIR ACCESS | The Theatre has wheelchair access and special seating arrangements. Please inform the booking office when ordering your tickets. |
